State Treasurer Plans To Put Brakes On Raiders Stadium If Elected Governor

Construction on the new Raiders stadium in Las Vegas is underway but gubernatorial candidate Dan Schwartz plans to put the brakes on the project - if elected.

Schwartz is the state treasurer and he is running for governor as a Republican. He is facing Attorney General Adam Laxalt in the primary election.

Schwartz has promised to withhold funding for roads to and from the stadium, until a deal is reworked to remove the $750 million of room taxes helping to fund the stadium.

Schwartz has been critical of the taxpayer subsidy approved in 2016. He says he doesn’t want to undo the tax, but rather redirect the money to education.
