New buses, bus shelters and road improvement projects are in Southern Nevada’s future.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada approved its budget this week for the coming year, with more than half of the total going toward capital projects.
The total budget adopted is just over $767 million, and about $367 million of that will go toward roadwork and bus operations.

Plans call for buying more than 100 new buses. RTC is projected to generate just over $578 million in revenue, 37 percent of that comes from the local sales tax, 18 percent from grants and 17 percent from fuel revenue indexing.
