Nevada Ranks Among States With Highest GDP

Federal data released this week show Nevada as one of the states with the highest gross domestic product.

Nevada’s GDP growth accelerated significantly from last year, jumping 3.5 percent. Real estate served as the largest contributor to overall GDP, followed by durable goods manufacturing.

Tourism remains strong in Las Vegas, and to the north in the Reno-Sparks area a slew of major companies have ramped up operations.

According to the report, Nevada’s GDP numbers also reflect steady in-migration to the state, with census estimates saying the population grew 2 percent last year.

That was the largest increase nationally behind only Idaho.
