LVCVA Puts In New Restrictions On Travel Gift Cards After Audit

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority approved a series of recommendations today to curb the misuse of airline gift cards.

This move comes after an audit last month found that CEO Rossi Ralenkotter used more than $17,000 in Southwest Airlines cards for personal travel.

The cards were circulated between 2012 and 2017 and had a lack of internal controls.

The recommendations approved today included storing the cards better and keeping a better record of their existence. Employees are also no longer allowed to use airline cards for personal trips.

The chairman of the board’s audit committee said additional measures may be needed to tighten up other travel policies with the authority that oversees Las Vegas’ marketing and tourism efforts.
