Death Row Inmates Awaits Supreme Court Decision On Execution Method

A prisoner on death row in Nevada awaits a Supreme Court decision on the method of his execution.

The Nevada Supreme Court heard arguments Tuesday on whether the state Department of Corrections should proceed with an untested method of lethal injection.

Scott Raymond Dozier was originally scheduled to be put to death in November for his two murder convictions.

Dozier has told the judge on numerous occasions that he wants to die. Last year, prison officials released an execution plan that included a three-drug combination of diazepam, fentanyl and a paralytic.

Attorneys with the American Civil Liberties Union challenged this method, saying it could constitute cruel and unusual punishment. Nevada has not executed an inmate since 2006.
