CCSD Estimating A $68 Million Deficit For Upcoming Year

Clark County School District officials are estimating a $68 million deficit for the upcoming academic year tied to arbitration awards.

District leadership sent a memo to school principals Monday outlining the financial situation.

They said the shortfall stems from providing teacher pay raises, larger health care contributes and a more recent arbitrators decision to grant higher pay to teachers who have advanced degrees.

The district is asking each school and department to absorb the cost of their increased employee salaries in their respective budgets.

The revised school budgets are due May 16.
