A national animal rights organization is offering a reward in Las Vegas for information about the person who killed dozens of rabbits outside of a state mental health facility.

PETA announced Monday it will offer $5,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the identification of the person responsible for the deaths.

The rabbits lived on the grounds of the State of Nevada West Charleston Campus.

Local rabbit rescuers suspect the rabbits were poisoned. Several of the animals were found with cracked ribs due to blunt-force trauma. Many of the rabbits remaining at the site were captured and sent to shelters around the country.
