Nevada Schools Inundate With Threats, Rumors Of Violence Following Florida Shooting

Washoe County School District officials have been inundated with threats and rumors of violence over the past couple of weeks since the February school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports rumors of threats have been investigated at five middle schools and two high schools in the district.

Last week, the Mendive Middle School in Sparks was on a code yellow lockdown following three separate reports of incidents over a 12-hour period.

This follows a similar pattern in Southern Nevada, where the Clark County School District has experienced a surge of threats as well. At least two incidents involved high school students bringing guns to school.
