Judge Orders Name Removal Forms Counted In State Senate Recall Effort

A judge in Las Vegas dealt a significant blow to recall efforts against two state senators Thursday.

District Judge Jerry Wiese ruled that forms submitted from people wishing to remove their names from recall petitions against Senators Joyce Woodhouse and Nicole Cannizzaro must be counted.

After the petitions were turned over to the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, Democrats sued, arguing that more than 2,000 people had signed forms asking to be removed from the petition.

If those numbers hold, the petitions won’t have enough signatures to be valid. Another hearing will be held on April 4 to discuss the outcomes.
