CCSD Asking Students Not To Participate In School Safety Walkout

A number of students in the Clark County School District plan to walk out of class Wednesday to underscore a demand for stricter gun control laws.

CCSD has sent a memo to parents encouraging other ways of speaking out about the issue, cautioning students that they could be marked tardy or unexcused for the absence.

Wednesday marks the one-month anniversary of the murders of 17 people in Parkland, Florida.

It has been called National School Walkout Day, an event in which students nationally plan to walk out of school for 17 minutes to protest what they say is a lack of sensible gun control legislation.
