North Las Vegas Set To Vote On Firing City Manager

City officials in North Las Vegas are set to vote on whether to fire their city manager, nearly a month after she stepped away from the job.

The council is planning to hold a vote on terminating City Manager Qiong Liu with cause, accusing her of directing staff to approve a salary increase for herself without the knowledge or approval of the council.

In an interview with the Nevada Independent, Liu said the vote is just an effort by Mayor John Lee and acting city manager Ryann Juden to derail a separation agreement between her and the city.

If the council votes to terminate Liu with cause, her contract entitles her to 100 percent of her accrued annual sick and holiday pay, but no additional benefits or salary.

If she is terminated without cause, her contract requires a lump sum payout of 12 months of salary and benefits.
