The Nevada Department of Transportation is planning a major fencing project along U.S. Highway 50 through the Dayton Corridor.
The Nevada Appeal reports the project is in response to multiple collisions involving wild or feral horses.
A contract will be issued this year to install fences designed to keep the horses off the highway in the Mound House, Dayton and Silver Springs areas.

Between 2006 and 2015, there were 350 horse and vehicle crashes in Nevada, with the largest concentration happening along this stretch of U.S. 50.
NDOT Director Rudy Malfabon said Nevada and seven other states, along with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation are jointly studying the effectiveness of wildlife crossings in reducing the number of collisions.
