Governor Candidate Schwartz Would Move Stadium Subsidy To Education

Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Schwartz announced that he wants to take the $750 million taxpayer subsidy earmarked for the Raiders stadium and use it to fix Nevada’s education system.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Schwartz said the money would be better spent hiring teachers, raising teacher salaries and offer teachers new incentives.

Similarly, Democratic candidate Steve Sisolak announced this week he would forgo a salary and instead donate the almost $150,000 to nonprofits related to education.

Governor Brian Sandoval told the RJ that Schwartz’s plan was a “poorly thought out and impractical” headline grab.
