A Utah state representative from St. George abruptly resigned this week, and a British newspaper reported today it’s because of published communication with a call girl.

The Daily Mail of London claims Jon Stanard paid a woman for sex during two business trips to Salt Lake City in 2017, and it published text messages between the two. Stanard resigned Tuesday evening but no explanations were given in the official statement.

A representative from the Daily Mail declined to say whether the woman was paid for the story. Stanard is married and has voted for stricter laws against pornography.
