Steve Horsford Announces Plans To Run For Congress

Democratic former representative Steven Horsford announced he’s running to replace Ruben Kihuen in Nevada’s 4 th Congressional District seat.

Horsford previously represented District 4 when he won the election against Republican businessman Danny Tarkanian in 2012.

He then lost the seat in 2014 against Republican Cresent Hardy. Horsford was the former director of the Culinary Academy workforce training organization, who was elected to the state Senate in 2004, and later became Nevada’s first African-American Senate majority leader.

Hardy also filed paperwork to run for the seat again. Kihuen said he will not run for re-election, but is not resigning, after two women came forward accusing him of sexual harassment.
