Nevada has a new chair of the Gaming Control Board.
Republican State Sen. Becky Harris is leaving her post in the Legislature to take the helm at one of Nevada's gaming regulators.
The move could make it harder for Republicans to win back control of the state senate, as a seat that was going to be difficult to defend is now vacant.

Harris was appointed to the position by Gov. Sandoval, but her tenure – for now – is only through this time next year.
That is because she is filling the remainder of the term of former chair A. G. Burnett, who retired last month.
Harris becomes only the second woman to lead the Gaming Control Board.
