Police Arrest 11 People During New Year's Eve Celebrations

After tallying arrests over one of Las Vegas’ busiest holiday weekends, police say only 11 misdemeanor arrests were made out of the more than 330,000 visitors came to the city to celebrate.

There was a heavy police presence assembled just months after the October 1 mass shooting.

Of those 11 arrests, eight were made on the Strip and three on Fremont Street. Another 10 people got minor citations.

Las Vegas police did not immediately specify the nature of the offenses.

That tally is less than the city’s northern neighbor Reno. Police there said they made 14 arrests Sunday night. Seven were for people driving under the influence and others were drug charges.

At least one person was cited for urinating in public.
