Homeless Count Underway In Southern Nevada

A count of homeless people in the valley took place overnight, as part of Clark County's annual homeless census.

Hundreds of volunteers checked local sidewalks, vacant lots and drainage tunnels for homeless people.

Information garnered from the census will be used to direct resources to areas in need of homeless assistance.

The count will continue tonight, and organizers say it will take several weeks to finalize the results. The 2017 census counted about 6,500 homeless people in Clark County.
