Candidate Filing Period Opens For Nevada State Supreme Court

The candidate filing period has opened for the Nevada Supreme Court.

Three people filed Tuesday on the first day judicial candidates were allowed to file, and they were all women.

Incumbent Supreme Court Justice Lidia Stiglich filed for re-election for Seat G. The other two candidates are Abbi Silver and Elissa Cadish, who are running to replace justices Michael Cherry and Michael Douglass.

In December, both Cherry and Douglass have said they will retire.

Cadish is currently a judge in Clark County District Court, where she was appointed in 2007 by then-governor Jim Gibbons.

Silver was appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval to the Nevada Court of Appeals, where she has served since 2014.
