Amodei Warns Against Panic After Sessions Marijuana Policy Announcement

U.S. Representative Mark Amodei has said there’s no reason for marijuana businesses to panic just yet.

After Attorney General Jeff Sessions sent a memo last week that frees up U.S. prosecutors to enforce federal laws against marijuana in states that have legalized it, many have feared what that might mean for the budding industry in states like Nevada and California.

When speaking to reporters Tuesday, Amodei said he thinks those fears are overblown but stopped short of speaking out against the move.

Nevada’s recreational marijuana industry has produced $19 million in tax revenue in the first few months of operation. Amodei cited the lack of increase in drug task forces among law enforcement.
