Drivers of electric cars will have to pay to park in garages and at street meters in Las Vegas, effective January 1.
A state law exempted electric cars from parking fees is going away.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that even though free parking will no longer be available, electric vehicles can still power up for no cost at city-owned charging stations.
A pair of new city-owned garages will each have about 50 charging ports that will provide free power to electric vehicles.
But as of the first of the year, electric vehicle owners – like everyone else, will have to pay to park at street meters and in city-owned garages.
