County In Utah Wants To Draw Millions Of Gallons Of Water From Lake Powell

Utah’s Washington County Water Conservancy District wants to link the Lake Powell Reservoir with the needs of its municipalities with a pipeline that was approved by that state’s legislature in 2006.

The Los Angeles Times reportsthe pipeline would transport nearly 77 million gallons of water a day from Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona to Washington County’s Sand Hollow Reservoir.

Officials project that following the completion of the pipeline’s environmental study, construction could start in the 2020s, although the cost of such an undertaking is not entirely clear.
