The Clark County School District approved some $25 million in budget cuts last night, which is more than enough to present a balanced budget to the state.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the savings come in part from eliminating an associate superintendent position and a significant reduction of an unassigned fund reserve.
The district also plans to freeze a central office travel budget to save nearly $700,000.

In total, more than 200 filled positions and 136 vacant jobs have been reduced, which enables CCSD to cover a deficit of just over $60 million.
The cuts will not affect the hiring of a search firm to find candidates to replace outgoing Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky.
