The sprawling Burning Man festival in the Black Rock desert might soon get even bigger.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports Burning Man is proposing that the BLM allow the event to grow to 100,000 people in the future.
BLM officials and Burning Man organizers met with locals this week from Gerlach, Reno and Lovelock to hear their concerns about the growth.

The event is currently capped at 68,000 participants but usually attracts about 80,000 people.
Burning Man organizers said the growth to 100,000 would be long term.
The BLM is currently working on an environmental assessment of the festival, looking at issues like air quality and pollution.
The last assessment was done in 2011. That new draft isn’t expected until December 2018.
