So Far, Non-FLDS Woman Winning Race For Mayor In Hildale, Utah

According to preliminary results, the city of Hildale, Utah – long one of the homes to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints polygamous sect – will have its first female mayor and its first-ever mayor who isn't a member of the church.

Unofficial vote totals show Donia Jessop with a slender 25 vote lead over current mayor Philip Barlow.

Two other non-FLDS candidates for Hildale's city council, Maha Layton and Jared Nicol, led in their races as well.

Official results won't be known for a couple of weeks, as Hildale conducted a mail-in ballot.

In other election results, St. George's mayor Jon Pike was poised to win re-election, according to initial vote tallies, as were two incumbents on that city's council.
