LAS VEGAS (AP) — The city of Las Vegas is accepting donations for a new fund that would maintain a community garden and public art created in honor of the October mass shooting.
The Las Vegas Community Healing Garden was created by Jay Pleggenkuhle of Stonerose Landscapes and his business partner, Daniel Perez, with the help of more than 1,000 volunteers to serve as a space where people could mourn.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reportedWednesday that along with supporting the garden, the Community Healing Fund will also provide grants for counseling, safety services and community events related to the shooting where 58 people were killed and hundreds others were injured.
The fund will be managed by the Nevada Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
