Death Row Inmate To Appear Before Judge

A death row inmate in the center of a controversy regarding the manner of his execution is scheduled to appear in a Las Vegas court this week by video conference from Ely.

Scott Raymond Dozier is scheduled to be put to death next week for murder, but his attorneys want to make sure his lethal injection is carried out humanely.

Lawyers with the ACLU Nevada have argued that the drug combination that will be used is experimental and could lead to Dozier being awake and aware while he suffocates to death.

If District Judge Jennifer Togliatti decides to keep the execution on schedule, Dozier will be the first inmate to be put to death in Nevada since 2006.
