10 Women Make Complaints Against A UNLV Dean

The dean of the School of Community Health Sciences at UNLV is the subject of multiple complaints received by a higher education bargaining unit in the state.

The President of the Nevada Faculty Alliance said at least 10 complaints have been made against Shawn Gerstenberger, and the matter could lead to an investigation.

Sandra Owens told the Las Vegas Review-Journalthat she’s heard from about 10 female employees over the past two weeks and that the complaints speak to the “creation of a hostile work environment.”

One faculty member sent a letter to the board of regents, who said she was compelled to come forward after learning Gerstenberger suspended the maternal-HIV program at the university.

A UNLV spokeswoman said she is unaware of any formal complaints being made.
