UNLV Responds To Health Program Lawsuit

Officials with UNLV have responded to a lawsuit filed against the university for its closure of a program that provides health care to women and children who have HIV.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a 4-year-old patient who has received services since birth. The suit says the clinic was closed down abruptly and without reason.

The university said, however, that isn’t true. In a statement, the university said the lawsuit “has no merit and is based on inaccuracies and misinformation.”

The statement explains that UNLV temporarily suspended one clinical aspect of the program to conduct an administrative audit, but that no patients in the HIV program lost care.
