President Trump Visits Survivors, First Responders

President Donald Trump and his wife Melania arrived in Las Vegas Wednesday morning to meet with victims and first responders in the wake of Sunday’s mass shooting on the Strip.

Air Force One landed around 9:40 a.m. carrying the president and the first lady as well as Republican Senator Dean Heller and Representative Mark Amodei, as well as House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, Attorney General Adam Laxalt, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo were among the state and local officials on the ground to greet the presidential visit.

The Trumps then traveled to University Medical Center to meet with patients and medical personnel.

The president then met with civilian heroes and first responders. He is scheduled for an early afternoon flight to return to the White House.

Trump’s visit Wednesday follows his travels Tuesday to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico. Trump offered somber remarks about the shooting from the White House on Monday, calling the Las Vegas gunman “demented” and a “Very, very sick individual.”
