Nevada Senate Recall Efforts Face Federal Lawsuit

Efforts to recall three Nevada state senators are now facing a lawsuit in federal court.

The Nevada Independent reports the suit names Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske and Clark County Registrar Joe Gloria as defendants, as they'd be charged with a special election were the recall petitions to succeed and be verified.

The state Republican Party is also named as a defendant.

Representing the plaintiffs, who are all voters in the potentially affected districts, are former Hillary Clinton campaign counsel Marc Elias and Bradley Schrager, the general counsel for the Nevada Democratic Party.

Their suit alleges a special election would be a hardship to voters & would not be beneficial.

Recall petitions against Democrats Joyce Woodhouse and Nicole Cannizzaro, and independent Patricia Farley, began circulating in August.

The first petition is due to the secretary of state's office in a couple of weeks.
