Police have clarified a few details and revealed new information about Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock.
Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that, while Paddock was a high-stakes gambler, he didn’t have any known gambling-related debts.
Marilou Danley, Paddock’s girlfriend, told Los Angeles investigators she hadn’t been concerned about his mental health before the shooting.
Authorities have contacted all of the gunman’s family, including his two ex-wives.
Paddock was also discovered to have been staying in a separate room at Mandalay Bay free of charge before he paid to rent the suite from which he attacked the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival.
Authorities think Paddock returned to Mesquite multiple times before carrying out the shooting.
Sheriff Lombardo denied rumors that Paddock met with a prostitute, saying the shooter mostly kept to himself during his time in Las Vegas.
The new information still doesn’t point the investigation to a clear motive. As Lombardo told the Review-Journal, “We may never know.”
