The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority decided Tuesday to spend $80 million on the naming rights for the Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin.
The stadium will be the future home of the minor league baseball team the Las Vegas 51s starting in 2019.
North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee, voted against the agreement between the convention authority and the 51s owners, saying the money would be better spent on parks and other community needs.
Board member Larry Brown and Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman abstained from the vote.
The vote comes on the same day the Howard Hughes Corporation announced its intentions to develop and construct The Las Vegas Ballpark, adjacent to Downtown Summerlin, east of Red Rock Resort near the new Vegas Golden Knights practice facility.
