NV Senate Majority Leader Ford Announces Bid For Attorney General

Nevada Senate Majority Leader Aaron Ford announced Tuesday he has decided to run for Attorney General.

He tweeted the announcement with a link to his campaign website that contained a letter to Nevadans.

Ford criticized current Attorney General Adam Laxalt in the letter, saying that the Attorney General’s office should not be a place for extreme ideological agendas, and deserve better from their top law enforcement officer.

Laxalt is expected to run for Governor after Brian Sandoval is termed out.

Ford is the only candidate who has officially announced his intention to run for Attorney General.

He was first elected to the state Senate in 2012, and in addition to running the Democratic caucus for the last four years, Ford pushed for a criminal justice reform agenda during the 2017 legislative session.
