Culinary Union Condemns Trump's DACA Decision

The Trump Administration formally announced it will end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also called DACA.

While an expected 800,000 people will be affected by the news nationally, an estimated 13,000 live here in Nevada.

The move comes just days after President Trump gave his first pardon to former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was facing jail time for racial profiling in immigration patrols.

Nevada’s powerful Culinary Union has condemned the action, urging employers on the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown Las Vegas to stand with their workforce and to not let the decision pass quietly.

The ACLU is estimating ending DACA will cost Nevada more than $603 million in annual GDP losses.
