Sen. Patricia Farley Targeted In Recall Attempt

Just days after Republicans launched an effort to recall Nevada State Sen. Joyce Woodhouse, they've put another lawmaker in their sights: State Sen. Patricia Farley.

The story was first reported by the Nevada Independent, which says the recall petition has been filed by two members of the Keystone Corporation, a conservative group, and a supporter of Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison's 2014 run for lieutenant governor.

Farley caucused with the Democrats during the 2016 legislative session, officially serving as an independent.

The senator from Las Vegas' District 8 formerly served as a Republican.

Her term in the Nevada State Senate expires in 2018; in a statement, she said she would not seek re-election to her Senate seat or election to any office.

In order for the petition for recall to be successful, a figure equal to or greater than 25 percent of the total of people who voted in the 2014 election that sent Farley to the Senate would need to sign it.

If that happens and is verified by the Secretary of State, it would trigger a special election.
