Ringside Physician Group Worried About McGregor's Safety

A group of ringside physicians has said UFC star Conor McGregor may not be safe to fight alongside boxing professional Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The New York Times reports the Association of Ringside Physicians is worried about McGregor’s odds in the highly anticipated crossover showdown.

Officials with the association said they were surprised the Nevada Athletic Commission even agreed to the fight. Mayweather is 49-0, and is considered one of the best boxers of his generation.

The Nevada Athletic Commission also has a large financial stake in the Mayweather-McGregor bout. The state receives 8 percent of the gross revenue from every ticket sold to a fight in Nevada, and the commission gets 25 percent of that.

More than $60 million in tickets have been sold so far.
