Report: Heller Supported ACA Changes Could Cost Nevada Millions

Nevada stands to lose as much as $257 million in federal funds if a health-care proposal to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act becomes law.

Senator Dean Heller signed on to the proposal that would keep most of the taxes put in place by the Affordable Care Act and change funding states receive from the Medicaid program to a per-capita basis.

A report on the proposal was released from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities this week, which found out-of-pocket costs would increase for people who purchase health care plans on their own.

The Nevada Independent reports Nevada has a lower per capita income and lower population density than other states, and would face significant cuts to the federal funds it received over the next 10 years.
