Recall Attempt Proposed For Sen. Woodhouse

One Nevada lawmaker faces the threat of a recall election – if a petition filed with the state for such a race clears various hurdles.

Republican former State Assemblyman Steven Silberkraus wants to recall current Democratic State Senator Joyce Woodhouse, who represents District 5, according to multiple reports.

The petition was filed last week, and no reason has been given for why it was filed in the first place.

Silberkraus formerly held the assembly seat in District 29, which resides in Senate District 5.

He lost re-election in 2016.

In order for the petition to result in a new election, a quarter of people who voted in Woodhouse's race last year would have to sign on to the measure by the end of October.

Senate Democrats blasted the move, with Majority Leader Aaron Ford calling the move "desperate" and "ridiculous."
