Nevada Death Row Inmate Reviving Conversation On Executions

A Nevada inmate scheduled to be put to death November 14 is reviving the national conversation over how executions are carried out.

Scott Raymond Dozier will be the first person put to death in this state since 2006, but corrections officials had to figure out a new way to do it, considering the state had no drugs to carry out a lethal injection.

They announced a solution in the form of a new, three-drug combination that includes fentanyl, Valium, and a strong muscle relaxant.

The Daily Beast reports several medical professionals have said there’s no obvious explanation for why these drugs were selected.  Full details for the protocol of the execution should be available in the coming weeks.
