Henderson police and other law enforcement agencies are targeting pedestrian safety in an initiative that will last through student’s return to school next week.

Henderson Police will be looking for motorists not paying attention to pedestrians in crosswalks and pedestrians crossing streets illegally. The enforcement effort began on August 7 and continues through August 14.

Officers will target intersections with clearly marked crosswalks using saturation patrols. According to the Nevada Department of Public Safety, 80 pedestrians died in accidents involving motor vehicles in 2016.
