Gaming Commission To Look At Marijuana Issues In Special Meeting

The Nevada Gaming Commission is set to address recreational marijuana in a special meeting Thursday.

The now-legalized vice presents a number of problems for the gaming industry, including its status as a Schedule 1 drug according to federal law.

The Las Vegas Sun reports Nevada’s regulators don’t want gaming companies to be associated with something that isn’t technically legal in the eyes of the U.S. government.

Members of the commission have expressed concerns that the federal government may scrutinize Nevada’s gaming industry if they don’t take a stand. Policies could potentially affect vendors who work with both casinos and the marijuana industry, such as payment processing firms or information technology services.
