St. George, Utah and surrounding Washington County has one of the fastest growing populations in the U.S.
That’s according to state population projections released this week, which said the area might balloon to more than 500,000 people over the next 50 years.
That’s an annual growth rate of 3 to 4 percent over the next 10 years, but those numbers would quickly add up.

The St. George Spectrum reports that officials in charge of demographic research at Gardner Policy Institute said the reason for the growth could also be attributed to a high number of visitors who own vacation homes contributing to those big numbers.
The state of Utah would grow to some 5.8 million people by 2065.
