Since marijuana legalization in the state, Elko County law enforcement officials say they are still dealing with marijuana users under the legal age of 21.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports that most of the arrests regarding marijuana have involved possession charges for people under 21.
Undersheriff Ron Supp said the few people who had court dates for marijuana possession after recreational use was legalized still faced penalties. But that wasn’t very many – since before the July 1 legalization date, the department only made 21 arrests.

Currently, there is no place to legally buy marijuana in Elko County. Supp said it might be difficult to provide security should a dispensary open its doors.
