UNR Removes Recognition Of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity

The University of Nevada, Reno announced Tuesday it has removed its recognition of the Nevada Alpha Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity for four years.

The decision comes after a student conduct hearing board found that the fraternity violated the university student code of conduct and the residence-based alcohol policy.

University officials said in a release that conduct that endangers the health or safety of any member of the university will not be tolerated, although they did not specifically name the incident causing the revocation.

The Office of Student Conduct does not investigate criminal violations. Loss of recognition means the fraternity can no longer function at the university under any official capacity.
