Sandoval Promises No Special Session For Legislature

Governor Sandoval promised Friday morning there would not be a need for a special session of the Legislature.

The Nevada Independent reports that end-of-session negotiations broke down Thursday over funding for the Education Savings Accounts program. Deputies to the governor are currently negotiating with Democratic leaders after a day that saw Sandoval veto several measures and saw Republican legislators vote against five budget implementation bills, including funding for a Northern Nevada veterans’ home.

The Legislature is scheduled to finish its regular session by Monday at midnight. If there is neither a state budget passed nor a special session, state government would not be funded after June 30.
