Nye County is set to receive $600,000 in federal funds for revitalizing contaminated properties – also known as brownfield sites.
Nye County and the Northern Nevada Development Authority will receive a combined total of $1.2 million in grants to assess and clean brownfield sites and to help local governments redevelop vacant and unused properties, according to the Pahrump Valley Times.
Nye County will use the $600,000 to spur economic redevelopment and support renewable energy and food security, focusing on mine-scarred lands, distressed tribal properties, and properties that have been transferred to local governments by default and abandoned gas stations.
