Debra March was sworn in as the mayor of Henderson Tuesday night, making her the city’s second female mayor.
Lorna Kesterson was the city’s first female mayor who served from 1985 to 1993.
March replaces outgoing Mayor Andy Hafen, who was term limited after serving as the mayor since 2009.

In April, March won the mayoral primary with more than 50 percent of the votes. She was elected to the city council in 2011 and re-elected in 2015. She has promised to create a more transparent administration.
City Councilman John Marz and Municipal Court Judge Rodney T. Burr were also sworn in.
