UNLV Looking At New Plans For Former Stadium Site

Now that the Oakland Raiders have bought a plot of land on Russell Road for their stadium, the University of Nevada Las Vegas is pondering other uses for the 42-acre tract it put forward as a stadium site candidate, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

The school purchased the land near the MGM Grand last year, but concerns about interference with flight paths at the nearby McCarran International Airport squashed plans to build a stadium there.

Now, the university is considering using the land for a private-public partnership to that would include a mixed development of housing, retail and facilities for university programs.
