McCarran Part Of Pilot Program For Extra Screening Of Electronics

Travelers passing through McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas for the long holiday weekend might notice some changes in security.

The Transportation Security Administration said this week that it has been testing a new process at McCarran International and nine other U.S. airports for more than a year. The pilot program calls for all electronic devices larger than a cell phone to be unpacked and sent through separate bins for screening.

TSA officials said the reason is to get a better look inside overpacked and cluttered bags. They said it is not related to any specific security threat.
